SYLMAR : Students Protest Proposed Fee Jump
- Share via
Mission College students sent to Gov. Pete Wilson on Thursday a petition containing about 500 signatures protesting a proposal to raise student fees at two-year colleges from $6 to $20 a unit.
“We feel that this will devastate the community colleges and force our classmates to drop out of school,” the petition reads in part.
Psychology student Cristina Ramirez, who also helped organize a protest rally on campus Thursday, said the signatures were gathered in two hours. Erica Hauck, student representative on the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees, was among speakers at the rally, attended by about 50 students.
