Before Paez, Ruelas Will Get Dominguez
Rafael Ruelas, signed to fight in October against former lightweight champion Jorge Paez of Mexico, will tune up Tuesday night at the Country Club in Reseda against Benny Dominguez in a scheduled 10-round bout.
Also, Gabriel Ruelas, the World Boxing Council’s top-ranked super featherweight contender who might fight champion Azumah Nelson of Ghana late this year, will fight Ismael Diaz in a scheduled 10-round bout.
The Ruelas brothers, of Arleta, have a combined record of 61-2, each losing just once.
Rafael, 20, ranked No. 7 by the World Boxing Council, will fight former International Boxing Federation champion Paez on Oct. 19 at the Forum, if he defeats Dominguez (19-9) of Durango, Mexico.
Diaz (28-4-3), the opponent of 21-year-old Gabriel, also hails from Durango.
The card starts at 7:30.
