MISSION VIEJO : Panelists Sought to Help Plan Library
- Share via
City officials are seeking residents to join the library committee to help plan for the new facility.
There are four vacancies on the nine-member committee, which is appointed by the City Council.
The new library will be at the intersection of Marguerite Parkway and La Paz Road. The county will pay for construction of the new facility. But facing a multimillion-dollar deficit, the county will only commit to using the proceeds from the sale of the existing library on Chrisanta Drive, valued at about $1 million.
However, some city officials said they do not want a bare-bones replacement for the old library. They are seeking alternative sources of funding to pay for amenities such as special children’s areas and a room for lectures and readings.
Residents who want to be a part of the committee may apply at the city clerk’s office, 26522 La Alameda. For information, call (714) 348-2052.
