SAY CHEESE: A UCI political scientist has some advice for President Bush tonight. Smile more. Photos of Bush frowning and fist-shaking in Houston are a turn-off to voters, says Prof. Shawn Rosenberg, author of a recent study about how manipulating a candidate’s appearance can sway voters as much as 17 percentage points in surveys. . . . Bush may be trying to appear tough, but “all the voter sees is a kind of hyper-aggressive, threatening behavior,” he says. “A smile tends to produce a much more positive reaction.”
