LOS ANGELES : Man Hearing Guilty Verdicts Tries to Escape
A Los Angeles man on trial in the kidnapings and rapes of three teen-age girls on their way to school tried to escape from Superior Court on Monday as the jury’s foreman began reading the guilty verdicts.
Danny Lavel Brown, 27, was restrained by two marshals and Superior Court Judge Richard Neidorf, who jumped down from his bench, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Goul. Brown was convicted on 14 counts of kidnaping and rape in the three attacks, which occurred in March and April, 1991. He faces a maximum of 121 years in prison when sentenced Sept. 24.
