Candidate George Bush
As the Republican leadership prepares for the GOP convention, it is not clear that registered Republicans will be presented adequately at the convention. There is too much input from special interest groups and too little input from individuals who make up the Republican majority. The following are key positions Republican leadership must support to retain my vote:
-- Drop Dan Quayle from the ticket.
-- Balance the budget by dramatically reducing the overhead of government while maintaining, or increasing, the quality of direct services to the people.
-- Reduce U.S. expenditures on foreign policy initiatives while maintaining, or increasing, the quality of diplomatic services.
-- Support pro-choice.
-- Support education through increased funding to the classrooms of America.
I am a registered Republican. I am certain my views are not shared by all Republicans, but this election year the people must make clear position statements and make politicians understand our dissatisfaction with their performance. I encourage Americans to communicate directly with their political leadership.
