Dead Concerts: The Grateful Dead canceled a four-city East Coast concert tour due to the illness of Jerry Garcia, saying the guitarist has chronic health problems that include an enlarged heart and lung disease. But the band assured its ultra-loyal fans that “the right steps are being taken” to restore Garcia, 50, to full health. Friday, the band canceled an 18-date swing through Washington, Philadelphia, New York and Boston scheduled to begin Sept. 9. The band had already canceled shows in Oregon and California.
