Nation IN BRIEF : THE WEST : Wildfires Battled in Oregon, Utah

Utah firefighters turned back a brush-fueled blaze that had threatened about 40 mountain cabins, while in Oregon lightning sparked dozens of wildfires in dry grass. More than 100 wildfires, most of them small, have burned from central Oregon to the California line since lightning storms hit Oregon last week. In eastern Utah, the fire that threatened the cabins had burned over about 150 acres and was 20% contained, sheriff’s officials said.
