MOORPARK : Blaze Chars 6 Hilly Acres
A slow-moving brush fire charred six hilly acres a few miles northwest of Moorpark before Ventura County fire crews contained the blaze Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.
The fire started at 2:39 p.m. near the intersection of Stockton Road and Waters Road, officials said. It did not threaten any structures but came within 50 feet of one home before its containment at 3:28 p.m.
Ten Ventura County Fire Department engines, three fire crews, a bulldozer and a helicopter responded to the blaze. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a twisted knee, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
