LA JOLLA : Jewelry Holdup Stuns Shoppers
Three men armed with handguns brazenly robbed a jewelry store at University Towne Centre Saturday morning, in view of stunned employees and customers, the San Diego Police Department said.
The men, apparently without disguise, entered Koll Jewelers about 10:30 a.m. and showed their weapons. One of the men smashed two jewelry display cases with a sledge hammer, police said, while a second man scooped the jewelry into a pillow case.
The three ran out to a black Jeep and fled without further incident, the department said.
