SANTA ANA — Two transients were arrested Friday morning after barging into an apartment and pointing a revolver at the resident, who was shot in the abdomen during the scuffle, police said.
Degoberto Aristondo, 32, who lives in an apartment at 717 E. Chestnut St., was in stable condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, hospital officials said.
Two transient men knocked at his door about 7:15 a.m. Friday and asked to speak to the former tenant of the apartment, Lt. Robert Helton said. Aristondo said he did not know the former tenant or the two men.
But Gregorio Gomez, 19, and Alejandro Porra Ibarra, 21, forced their way in and Ibarra pointed the gun at Aristondo’s head, Helton said. He tried to fight them off and was shot.
A neighbor who heard the gunfire called police. Gomez and Ibarra were arrested outside the building on suspicion of attempted robbery and attempted murder, Helton said.
