CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : BARSTOW : 3.7 Quake Continues Swarm of Temblors
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A magnitude 3.7 earthquake was felt just north of Barstow, continuing the swarm of more than 130 quakes that have shaken the high desert city since June 28. No damage was reported. Most of the temblors have been small, but a moderate, 4.7-magnitude quake struck on Wednesday. State emergency officials and seismologists have warned Barstow authorities that evidence points to the possibility of more quakes as strong as magnitude 6. The sequence of Barstow area temblors began after the 7.5 magnitude quake near Landers on June 28.
