OXNARD : Youth Wounded in Drive-By Shooting
A 17-year-old Oxnard youth was wounded in a drive-by shooting at a grocery store parking lot about a block from the Esplanade Shopping Center on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Robert Martinez, 17, was taken by friends to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released for a leg wound, hospital officials said.
The incident occurred about 4 p.m., when Martinez and a friend were walking through the parking lot of Ralph’s Grocery Market at 150 Esplanade Drive, according to Oxnard police.
Martinez was not able to identify his assailant, and police had made no arrests by late Sunday.
Oxnard Police Lt. Gordon Hubbard said it was unusual to have a shooting near the shopping center.
“I don’t remember ever having another shooting out there,” he said.
