Alhambra : Hearing on Traffic Diverters
In response to a petition drive by angry residents, the City Council will hold a special hearing Aug. 5 to receive comments on the effects of traffic diverters installed a year ago to reduce congestion on three streets.
The city placed impassable bumps where Huntington Drive intersects Story Place, Almansor Street and Hidalgo Avenue to stem the flow of traffic from neighboring San Marino, which had declined the city’s request to close the Huntington Drive median.
However, residents of Granada Avenue have complained that the brunt of the traffic has been diverted to their street.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 515 N. Vega St. at Alhambra Road. Besides comments by the public, it will include an environmental impact report on the diverters.
