COSTA MESA : Accident Critically Hurts Motorcyclist
An Alta Loma man suffered major head and chest injuries Wednesday after he was thrown from his motorcycle, police said.
Brian James Clark, 23, was in critical condition in the intensive care unit of UCI Medical Center in Orange after the 9:23 a.m. incident, said hospital spokeswoman Fran Tardiff. He was being treated for head and chest trauma and a broken left leg.
Clark was riding east on 16th Street at about 70 m.p.h. when he hit a concrete light pole at Placentia Avenue, witnesses told Officer Wayne Riedmann. The motorcycle skidded, and Clark was thrown.
