The Garden Grove Unified School District Board will hold a special meeting Friday to consider appointment of a new board member to fill a recently vacated seat.
Eight candidates filed application papers by Tuesday’s deadline to fill the seat vacated by Maureen DiMarco. She resigned last month to devote more time to her job as state secretary of child development and education.
The applicants seeking the post are: Barbara Barker, a retired teacher; Frank Noe, an adviser to student teachers; Terry Horwitz, a business manager; Guillermo Quinones, a supervisor of electrical trades; George Abbes, an attorney; Robert Harden, a systems analyst; Jimmy White, a businessman, and Chuck Buchanan, a sales representative. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the board room of the district Education Center, 10331 Stanford Ave.
