Higher Sales in All Units Buoy Pepsico
Pepsico Inc. reported a 20% rise in second-quarter earnings, buoyed by higher sales in all three of its divisions: beverages, snack foods and restaurants.
The company, which is headquartered in Purchase, N.Y., earned $383 million in the quarter ending June 13, compared to $318.3 million in the same period one year ago. Per share earnings rose 23% to 48 cents versus 39 cents a year ago. Sales grew 11% to $5.2 billion.
Beverage division operating profit rose 15% to $295.3 million on a sales increase of 9% to $1.9 billion.
Snack food profit rose 23% to $254 million on sales growth of 9% to $1.4 billion,
Sales were also up at Pizza Hut and Taco Bell outlets, Pepsico said.
