Data Design Labs Sells Manufacturing Plant

ANAHEIM — Data Design Laboratories Inc. said Thursday that it has completed the sale of its printed circuit board manufacturing plant here.
After shutting its last manufacturing business in Orange County in November and laying off about 250 employees, the company moved its corporate headquarters from Anaheim to Beaverton, Ore., earlier this year.
The sale completes a restructuring that Data Design undertook to reduce its $15 million in bank debt and provide working capital, said William E. Cook, chief executive of Data Design.
“This marks the culmination of our efforts to sell assets,” said Cook, who would not identify the buyer or reveal the purchase price.
Printed circuit board manufacturers, which make components for a wide variety of electronic products, have been hurt by the recession and reduced defense spending.
