A Logan Heights man was arrested Tuesday in connection with stabbings earlier in the day that left one woman dead and another critically injured, authorities said.
Alex Monges, 33, was arrested at the Ebony Inn motel in the 700 block of 32nd Street several hours after the 5 a.m. attack at a home in the 200 block of South Francis Street, San Diego police said.
One woman, whose name was not released by police, died at the scene, police Sgt. Dawn Summers said. The second victim, Maria Monges, 27, identified as the suspect’s wife, was treated at UC San Diego Medical Center for a punctured lung and stab wounds, nursing supervisor Monica Manzer said.
Neighbors told police Alex Monges and his wife had argued recently, officials said. Monges was booked on suspicion of murder and assault, Summers said.
