Seven Southern Californians were among the 20 selected to play on the U.S. Olympic soccer team that opens the 15-country tournament July 24 against Italy. Chosen for the team were goalkeeper Ian Feuer of Los Angeles; defenders Cam Rast of Simi Valley and Mike Lapper of Huntington Beach and midfielders Cobi Jones of Westlake Village, Yari Allnutt of San Diego, Joe-Max Moore of Irvine and Rhett Harty of Whittier. Five members of the team played for UCLA’s 1990 NCAA championship team: Chris Henderson, Brad Friedel, Jones, Lapper and Moore.
