RIGHT DIRECTION: Laguna Beach Mayor Robert F. Gentry applauds Ross Perot’s new position opposing gay discrimination in the government if elected President (A1), especially since it follows meetings with gay activists. “It shows leadership that he is willing to change after becoming informed,” says Gentry, who is gay. . . . But Gentry still favors Bill Clinton. Perot’s statement that gay appointees would still need special counseling, he said, is “a prime example of the kind of prejudice that we face in our daily lives just because of who we are.”
