Monrovia : Water Rates Going Up
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to raise water fees across the board to compensate for rising electrical costs, the purchase of water during the drought and increased charges from outside water agencies.
A typical single-family home will have a $3.70 increase per month, said Public Works Director Robert Sandwick. He said Monrovia will still have among the lowest water rates in the San Gabriel Valley.
The average cost for meter service charge and the first 1,500 cubic feet of water in the San Gabriel Valley is $18.14, Sandwick said, while Monrovia’s rate for that service is about 19% lower, at $14.70.
