SDSU’s Navarro Tops List
Rick Navarro, a San Diego State left-hander, finished the 1992 season as the national leader in ERA according to final Division I statistics released Monday.
Navarro, a four-year letterman from Helix High, compiled a 1.373 ERA, edging out David Hawkins of Nicholls State (1.379). Navarro now plays for Niagara Falls in the Detroit Tigers organization.
Benji Grigsby, a SDSU pitcher who recently signed with the Oakland A’s, finished fourth in strikeouts per nine innings at 12.2.
BASKETBALL
Larry Harris, who played with the San Diego Clippers in 1978, has been hired as assistant basketball coach at Oregon State.
Harris, 37, was the all-time leading scorer at Pitt when he graduated in 1978. He also played with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1980. For the last four years, Harris has been an assistant at Duquense.
