Lawyer: Don’t Judge NFL Owners by Salaries

NFL attorneys at the pro football antitrust trial in Minneapolis said Monday that the high salaries of some league owners, such as Philadelphia Eagle owner Norman Braman’s $7.5 million, misrepresent their true financial picture.
Frank Rothman pointed out that Braman did not pay himself a salary from 1985 to 1989. He also said that the Eagles’ owner sank $18 million into the team--which was “near bankruptcy”--when he bought it in 1985.
