Frankie Fredericks of Namibia won the 100- and 200-meter races at the BNP Grand Prix track meet at Villeneuve D’Ascq, France. Fredericks won the 100 in a wind-aided 9.91 seconds, beating U.S. Olympic trial winner Dennis Mitchell, who was second in 9.94.
Fredericks won the 200 in 19.99, again assisted by a wind over the allowable limit.
