MILWAUKEE — A man convicted of killing a 16-year-old boy when he tried to shoot a beer can off the boy’s head was sentenced to 13 years in prison Monday despite a plea for leniency from the victim’s mother.
Juan Garza, 26, who was on parole, was convicted of reckless homicide and possessing a gun as a felon. The teen-ager, Daniel Leonard, was the son of Garza’s girlfriend.
Daniel, who voluntarily held the beer can on his head, was hit in the forehead by Garza’s shot.
