LANCASTER : Airfield Expansion Study to Be Weighed
Los Angeles County supervisors will consider at their meeting today whether to commission a $300,000 study of development possibilities at Wm. J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster.
Among other things, the study would examine the potential for expanding the county-owned general aviation airport into a commercial commuter airport.
The county share of the study would be $100,000, with other support coming from the city of Lancaster, the Lancaster Redevelopment Agency and the Lancaster Economic Development Corp.
Fox Airfield is expected to experience development pressure in the near future, according to a county staff report, and through the study county officials hope to ensure that development is compatible with the airport.
