Hey, a Mistake’s a Mistake, Right?
NEW YORK — Forbes said Monday that it made a $9-billion goof in its 1992 rankings of the world’s wealthiest people.
It said it estimated the worth of the Reichmann brothers of Canada, the three secretive siblings who own property developer Olympia & York, at $7 billion, making the family one of the 10 richest in the world.
Bankruptcy court documents have since shown that the company’s liabilities exceed assets by $2 billion because of plummeting real estate values.
“We sure blew that one,” Forbes said.
