1 Stabbed and 1 Shot During Party Brawl
A Moorpark man was stabbed and a Newbury Park man accidentally shot himself in the thigh when a large brawl broke out at a party in Moorpark this weekend, authorities reported Saturday.
Guadalupe Barrales, 19, of Moorpark was stabbed in the chest during the altercation at the party, held on a privately owned Christmas tree lot on Hitch Street, sheriff’s deputies said.
Barrales was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, where he remained in stable condition Saturday evening in the intensive care unit.
Deputies said they arrested a 17-year-old from Santa Paula on suspicion of attempted murder.
He was being held at Ventura County Juvenile Hall.
Josh Garcia, 20, of Newbury Park apparently shot himself in the thigh while attempting to stop the fight by firing his gun into the air, deputies reported.
Garcia was treated at Pleasant Valley Hospital and released.
More than 100 people attended the party before it was disbanded by sheriff’s deputies, said Deputy Robert Bardwell.
