Baldwin Park : 8 Jobs Eliminated in Budget

The City Council has voted to cut eight city positions to help balance the 1992-93 budget.
The staff cuts, which will result in six layoffs, will save the city $266,000 annually, City Manager Donald Penman said. Over the past four years, the city has reduced its staffing by 21%, he said.
Among the positions cut in Wednesday’s action was that of Facilities and Activities Manager Gary Rose, who oversees the recreation department. He was lauded at last month’s meeting by dozens of residents who had hoped to save his job.
The current budget does not include pay raises for city employees or police officers, but salary negotiations will begin over the next several weeks.
