Hall of Famers: The Doors, the Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Rod Stewart and Creedence Clearwater Revival top the list of first-time nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other new nominees are the Animals, Buffalo Springfield, Rascals, Sly & the Family Stone and Frank Zappa, with Ruth Brown, Cream, Etta James, Little Willie John and Velvet Underground making repeat appearances on the ballots, which are being mailed to voters today. Five to seven of the nominees will be elected to the hall, with induction ceremonies scheduled for Jan. 12 at Century Plaza.
