Oxnard educator Bert Pearlman has been named assistant superintendent of educational services for the Beverly Hills Unified School District. He replaces Carol Katzman, who will stay on with the district as a consultant.
Pearlman was selected from a pool of 56 applicants, most of whom were from California. The board approved spending about $15,000 on a consultant to conduct the search.
Pearlman has served as director of curriculum and assessment at Oxnard Union High School District since 1987. He also spent two years as director of curriculum research and evaluation for the Santa Barbara County Office of Education and nine years as assistant dean at UC Santa Barbara.
At a school board meeting Tuesday, the board approved a two-year contract with a first-year salary of $77,000.
“Dr. Pearlman brings a proven track record in the area of curriculum and instruction to the district,” Supt. Sol Levine said. “He will be a fine addition to our school staff.”
