VLADIVOSTOK, Russia — Volga sedans, once the status symbols of Communist Party bosses, are becoming collectors’ items in Vladivostok, a gateway for used cars from Japan.

“There are so many Japanese cars around that some select buyers are now in the market for restored Volgas,” said a salesman for the car dealer ACFES.

“Our motto is to serve the customer and keep ahead of the trend,” he said. “The trend is no longer Toyota or Honda.”
