Murphy’s Baby: Woman’s Day readers have made their choice of a name for Murphy Brown’s baby. It’s Avery, after Murphy Brown’s late mother. Other popular choices were Dan Quayle Brown, along with (the obvious joke) Charlie Brown and Buster Brown. One reader suggested Christopher Brandon Scott Brown, with the nickname of CBS, while others came up with Elvis Brown, Jerry Brown, Johnny Carson Brown and even H. Ross Brown. In all, the magazine received 2,500 calls on a special 900 telephone line. Proceeds from the calls will go to the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation and the Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
