Goodby Mike Dunleavy and Hello Randy Pfund

I was shocked by Jim Murray’s irresponsible speculation regarding Mike Dunleavy’s departure from the Lakers. Mike Dunleavy is not a rat leaving a sinking ship. The Lakers are the finest organization in professional basketball. Anyone foolish enough to believe that one difficult year is the beginning of the end doesn’t know the importance of quality management.

Although I wish Mike the best of luck in Milwaukee, I believe he will regret his decision. He will soon realize that the total organization is more important that individual players or coaches or water boys. That is why the Lakers will be in contention for the NBA crown within the next three years, and why, Jim, your sinking-ship theory is all wet.
