Basketball Fans Scurry as Miner and Murray Leave School in Hurry

The recent riots bring to light a glaring problem that exists within our impoverished communities: the lack of any supportive structure where influential minority members can help their own.
A less-important, but telling, event occurred the following week, when Harold Miner made his tearful farewell from Coach Raveling and USC. This emotional news conference underscored the tremendous bond that existed between these two men that was the result of the support and guidance that a respected black leader provided for a young man he treated as a son. As we heal, we can all learn from such stories.
