WESTMINSTER — A 45-year-old man apparently shot and killed his estranged girlfriend Monday afternoon, then critically wounded himself, police said.
The 45-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, said Sgt. Dave Stronach.
The man was being kept alive on life-support systems at a hospital, Stronach said. His name was also being withheld.
Details of the shooting were sketchy, but Stronach said a gun found in the house was believed to be the murder weapon.
Police, called to a single-family residence in the 6400 block of Mohawk Road to investigate gunshots shortly before 8 p.m., found the man and woman.
