LAPD’s Response to the Riot

Well, Gates has given himself one hell of a going-away party. He threw himself a bonfire, the biggest the city of Los Angeles has ever had.
I would like to share a secret with the citizens of L.A. Just one week before, on April 24, I was a part of a peaceful demonstration in front of the Cedars Sinai Hospital. For this occasion Chief Gates sent out about 100 policemen in riot gear.
Do you also remember when the gay and lesbian community protested Gov. Pete Wilson’s presence at the Century Plaza Hotel? Gates didn’t have a problem that night either. The riot squad was out beating innocent women and men. I was at the theater that night and witnessed the horror.
We can’t fire him but I would suggest that the citizens of Los Angeles demand a federal grand jury investigation; he has unjustly tampered with all of our civil rights.
