Investigators were searching Friday for suspects in connection with an arson fire that gutted a portable classroom at Channel Islands High School.
Firefighters were called about 2:20 a.m. Thursday about a fire at the west end of the campus, said Oxnard Fire Chief Terry McAnally.
When they arrived, the portable classroom was fully engulfed in flames, McAnally said.
“It was burning out of every window,” he said.
Firefighters fought the blaze for about two hours, McAnally said.
The classroom is used for a math class and is not part of the school’s main structure. The fire caused $50,000 damage to the contents and structure, McAnally said.
