PIERCE COLLEGE : Debaters Win National Honors
The Pierce College debate team won a bronze medal in the recent Phi Rho Pi National Speech Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
“This award was given to the top schools in the nation and was quite an unexpected honor,” said Todd Guy, forensics director.
In addition, several Pierce students came away with gold, silver and bronze medals. Dan Little of Reseda took the gold medal in cross-examination debate. Little and Tristen Lazareff of North Hollywood were awarded a silver medal in team debate in the same category.
Shamiram Dooman won a bronze medal in extemporaneous speaking and Audrey Ritter of Northridge earned a silver medal in impromptu speaking and a bronze medal in cross-examination debate.
