Congressional Check Scandal
It is interesting to see this record turnover in the House and Senate and even more interesting to hear the reason for this mass exodus: The system doesn’t work.
What a crock. True, the system doesn’t work. But money is the reason many of these members are calling it quits, just as it was money that kept them in their posts and money that guided their decisions. It just so happens that any member who retires this year is allowed to keep the money in his or her campaign war chest. For many congressmen, this means millions of dollars.
Why isn’t the press unmasking these hypocrites? I’m sick of stories about how we’re losing bright, energetic and capable people in government service. The people we’re losing were in government to service themselves, and they are leaving government for the same reason.
