Power Outage May Be Fault of Squirrel
About 12,800 houses in the Tarzana-Reseda area were without power for about 2 1/2 hours Monday evening--perhaps the fault of a wayward squirrel, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported.
The outage occurred about 6:40 p.m. when three circuit breakers at a distributing station in Tarzana failed, DWP spokeswoman Lucia Alvelais said. Officials suspect that a “squirrel may have climbed into the station and shorted those three circuit breakers,” Alvelais said.
