Debate Over Abortion

The Times (April 23) quoted the solicitor general as stating to the Supreme Court justices that “the state does have a compelling interest in the protection of fetal life.” Does the state no longer have an equally compelling interest in the protection of an individual’s right to privacy, in this most private personal affair?
I shudder to think of what other Orwellian nightmares this present government has in mind for all of us.
