Take Back Neighborhood
As a former resident of Panorama City who lived just north of Blythe Street, I don’t think the answer to the gang problem is whether the barrier remains or not (“Barricade Still Splits Residents,” Times Valley Edition, March 23).
Playing with the barrier is a Band-Aid solution to a gunshot wound. What is needed is an organization of all people in that community who want to reclaim what is rightfully theirs. There are so many more of us than of them. Working together, Panorama City can be turned back into a beautiful community.
Let the barrier question be a rallying point for a community-based action group working together with the police to alleviate the gang and drug problem on Blythe Street once and for all.
