BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Twins’ Pagliarulo to Have Surgery
- Share via
Third baseman Mike Pagliarulo of the Minnesota Twins will undergo surgery Tuesday to have a bone fragment removed from his right hand and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.
Outfielder Dave Gallagher, who has a broken right hand, was put on the 15-day disabled list by the New York Mets.
The rain that forced postponement of Saturday’s American League game between the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers also pushed back by a day Nolan Ryan’s return from the disabled list until today.
Ryan has been on the disabled list since lasting only 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision start against Seattle in the season opener April 6.
Ryan, who has pitched seven no-hitters in his career, is scheduled to face another no-hit pitcher, left-hander Matt Young (0-1), who pitched eight hitless innings in a 2-1 loss in Cleveland on April 12. They will meet in a makeup game as part of a doubleheader.
