From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Dozens of Brown University students were arrested after they took over the campus administration building in Providence to demand an end to admissions based on ability to pay. School officials obtained a court order and, after a day-long sit-in, campus police began making arrests at 6 p.m., when the building normally closes. Protesters demanded a “need-blind” admissions policy, by which applicants would be admitted on the basis of qualifications and the university would offer financial aid.
