From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley fired a second and third city official and set his sights on two others he said could have acted to prevent the subterranean flooding that shut down the Loop last week. Daley said he had asked for and got the resignations of chief bridge engineer Louis Koncza and Dennis Sadowski, supervising engineer of a project to replace protective pile clusters at five bridges last summer. The mayor also sought to suspend three others who he said knew about damage to a century-old tunnel before its wall ruptured.
