Long Beach : Colleagues Praise Edgerton for Taking Loss Graciously
- Share via
Colleagues of outgoing Long Beach City Councilman Wallace Edgerton called the veteran politician gracious in his election defeat to Alan Lowenthal and praised him Tuesday for his 17 years on the council.
“When you win it’s very easy to be the gentleman,” said Councilman Thomas Clark. When you do not “it’s not easy. I take my hat off to you.”
Added Councilman Ray Grabinski: “He’s probably one of the most eloquent speakers we’ve had on the council. He could always agree to disagree.”
Although Edgerton will serve on the council until July, he and council members welcomed Lowenthal, a Cal State Long Beach psychology professor who defeated Edgerton on April 14.
