Alpha Systems Contract: Alpha Systems Lab Inc., an Irvine manufacturer of advanced computer products, announced this week that it has won a major contract through EDS Corp. to supply computer boards and other computer enhancement products to the U.S. armed forces.
The three-year contract is worth between $20 million and $30 million annually, said Rose Hwang, the company’s president.
Alpha Systems supplies advanced circuit boards, graphics and video enhancement products for personal computer systems.
It is a small, minority business certified with the Southern California Regional Purchasing Council. Through this program, the U.S. government encourages larger businesses, such as EDS, to support small, minority-run companies.
Hwang and her husband--Mitchell Phan, company vice president of operations--moved to the United States in the mid-1970s after a perilous escape from Vietnam.
