Korean Firms Accused of Dumping Chips: In a move that could mark the beginning of a major trade battle, Micron Technology Inc. of Boise, Ida., has accused Korean memory chip makers of dumping, or selling their products below production cost. If the Federal Trade Commission finds in Micron’s favor, the action could lead to tariffs on South Korean computer chips or other punitive measures. Micron specifically cites Hyundai and Goldstar, the two biggest Korean electronics firms, in its complaint. Even Japanese memory chip producers have in recent years come under pressure from low-priced Korean chips.
